MIS Leading Diversity Series

  • The Tomorrow’s Leaders Equipped for Diversity Program is an online program in which students can view online videos and complete a quiz. There is a limit to how many online videos/quizzes you can complete for Zipperman credit.
    • Don't need any acadmic credits - or enrolled in MIS295A for one credit? Then only one (1) Leading Diversity quiz is eligible for Zipperman event credit.
    • Taking MIS295a for 2 credits? Then only 2 (two) Leading Diversity quizzes are eligible for Zipperman event credits

March 3, 2017/Fri.: Phoenix Suns Basketball Game - RSVP required

Meet the Phoenix Suns executives who work behind the scenes to ensure the Sun’s gain digital market share, fill the seats and produce game statistics to share with the crowd and the NBA.
After we meet the executives, we will stay for the game. (Suns vs Oklahoma City Thunder)

Transportation to and from the game will be provided. Dinner will be on your own.

The cost of your ticket will be reduced from your Zipperman $100 stipend. (Cost of ticket is to be determined.)

Dean's excuse request can be noted during the RSVP process.

March 21, 2017/Tues.: MIS the MIS Superstar Dr. Jay Nunamaker and the AVATAR - RSVP required

Meet one of the MIS department’s “superstar” professors and researchers – Dr. Jay Nunamaker and his research project the AVATAR.

Dr. Nunamaker UA Regents' Professor of MIS, Soldwedel Chair in Management Information Systems and Director, Center for the Management of Information. He was one of the original founding fathers of the MIS department in 1974!

During this session students will be able to experience first hand Jay’s current research project, the AVATAR.

Using artificial intelligence and non-invasive sensor technologies, Jay’s team has developed a screening system called the Automated Virtual Agent for Truth Assessments in Real-Time (AVATAR). The AVATAR is designed to flag suspicious or anomalous behavior that warrants further investigation by a trained human agent in the field. This screening technology may be useful at Land Ports of Entry, airports, detention centers, visa processing, asylum requests, and personnel screening.

Dinner will be provided.
