Alexia HoffAlexia Hoff

Alexia came to Eller College from her hometown of Eureka CA. Her mother was born in France which has given Alexia the exposure and appreciation of her mother’s country and culture. Alexia is an Honors College student and is majoring in Management Information Systems with a minor in French.

While at the University, she has been very active in the community including the Chi Omega Fraternity, Zeta Beta Chapter where she leads the executive committee in coordinating the participation of over 200 women in the Push for America Philanthropic competition.

“With my deepest gratitude I would like to thank Wal-Mart for sponsoring such a scholarship that is both a great honor and financial aid toward my college education. I look forward to this coming academic year and graduating in May. I found the pursuit of an MIS major to be both intellectually stimulating and challenging and look forward with an optimistic attitude to my future career in an IT oriented profession. Thank you once again”.

Jesus M. TorresJesus M. Torres

Jesus was born in Nacozari, Sonora, Mexico and was raised in Tucson, Arizona. He is the first in his family to attend a university and his family and cultural heritage are extremely important to him.

“…this scholarship has given me the motivation and means to continue my educational goals. Because I don’t come from an affluent family, it is sometimes difficult for my parents to provide the necessary financial support. But this scholarship has opened many doors for my future and given me the motivation and drive to be successful. Thank you”.
Jesus M. Torres

Jesus came to Eller College after earning an Associate of Business, Associate of Arts and Associate of General Education from Pima County Community College where he held a 3.5 GPA.

While at Pima he founded and became the president of the Pre-Business Club, Desert Vista Campus which is still a viable and successful club. This club gives students an idea of what business is about and what majors are available for them. In addition, it gives the students the guidance to transfer into any university to pursue a business degree. He continually goes back and participates in the meetings to share information and insights as to the challenges he faced while transferring to the UofA.

Since he joined Eller College, Jesus has held leadership roles with both the Hispanic Business Student Association (HBSA) and Management Information Systems Association (MISA). He was the Executive Vice President for the MISA club and Vice President of Administration for the HBSA club.

Jesus is fluent in Spanish. He is a double major in Management Information Systems and Operation Management and hopes to secure an IT Analyst position after graduation in May 2010.
