Artificial Intelligence Lab Inaugurates Its New “Dark Web” Lab Facility.

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Lab, headed by Dr. Hsinchun Chen, is an internationally-known research group in the areas of digital libraries, intelligent retrieval, collaborating computing, and knowledge management. The group is known for its adaptation and development of scalable and practical artificial intelligence, neural networks, genetic algorithms, statistical analysis, computational linguistics, and visualization techniques.
On November 26, 2008 the AI Lab inaugurated is new Dark Web lab facility. The Dark Web project is a long-term scientific research program that aims to study and understand the international terrorism (Jihadist) phenomena via a computational, data-centric approach. The project aims to collect "ALL" web content generated by international terrorist groups, including web sites, forums, chat rooms, blogs, social networking sites, videos, virtual world, etc.
This high tech lab features include -

• 16-core HPC host with 64 GB Ram; Windows Server 2008
• 16-core Virtual Server host, 48 GB Ram; Windows Server 2003
• Two Database Servers
• VMware Hosting Server
• Linux multi-CPU Data Processing Server
• Web and Web Service Hosts
• Infrastructure Servers
Storage:
• 45 TB (30 TB usable) iSCSI storage area network (SAN)
• 4 TB NAS Box
• Two 2TB Direct Attached Storage Units
Workstation:
• 6 Quad core spidering machines /workstations with quad monitors, 2 TB disk storage
• Quad monitors
Power:
• 208 Volt On-Line Power Supplies
