Freeport-McMoRan Copper and Gold is currently recruiting MIS students for several internship opportunities in Phoenix, AZ. The internship postings are listed on Wildcat JobLink, and www.fcx.com. International students are welcome to apply.
Freeport-McMoRan will also be on campus at the end of March to conduct interviews.
Description: Our summer intern program is tailored to individuals who are currently enrolled in mining-related degrees as full-time students at an accredited, four-year college or university in North America. Internships typically run from mid-May to mid-August, but will consider Interns throughout the year. Freeport-McMoRan's intern program has been referred to as one of the top intern programs in the mining industry. By providing a structured program and access to the top minds and technology in mining today, your internship will equip you with the skills and experience to help prepare you for a successful career.
This MIS internship will be located at our Phoenix Corporate Office in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. Below are samples of summer projects that interns will be assigned:
SAP Support Analyst
Tasks:
- Create reports for SAP change management
- Organize SAP Sharepoint sites
- Work with Support Team to streamline documents and project sites
- Conduct process improvement assessment around ticket handling process; Implement process improvements
- Assist in projects to decommission equipment and applications as necessary
Sharepoint 2010 Analyst (Enterprise Content Management System)
Tasks:
- Meet with business to document and evaluate their Sharepoint 2010 needs
- Research internal and external vendor solutions
- Conduct user acceptance testing on Sharepoint 2010 sites to ensure they are ready for go-live
- Work with MIS personnel to update user documentation
- Create subject area specific training documentation
Security Analyst
Tasks:
- Document and maintain perimeter risk assessment
- Document and maintain network device hardening process
- Create and conduct security awareness training
- Manage security vulnerability management assessment
Network Analyst
Tasks:
- Analyze network traffic and utilization
- Update network documentation and verify inconsistencies
- ssist network devices operations (move, add, change, delete)
- Assist network implementation (mount, cable, label, install, document)
Instructional Design (technical writer)
Tasks:
- Develop and update end user documentation
- Document and draft high level workflows
- Document and draft instruction designs
- Review and edit exiting MIS policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in college majoring in MIS, IT, Computer Science or related discipline
- Computer skills (Microsoft 2007 operating systems and Microsoft Office 2010 software: Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Project)
- Excellent verbal, written communication and proofreading skills
- Good interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working on an MIS degree
- SAP or SharePoint experience
- Prior experience in Computer Networking and Security a plus
- MIS communications experience a plus
Criteria/Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office setting
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and sit
- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 25 pounds) during the course of the workday
