Our summer internship program provides high-performing juniors with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in projects that have strategic, operational or technological significance to the company. Interns will gain a broad understanding of American Express and the Technologies organization, as well as experience with various business and technology portfolios in such roles as Programmer or Business Analyst. Additionally, participants are exposed to various areas of the company through interaction with key executives and networking opportunities. Technologies internships are located in Phoenix, Arizona and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

What types of projects could you do as a Technologies Undergraduate Summer Intern at American Express?
- Evaluate new Open Source software and cloud computing infrastructure for internal development center
- Design a new web-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) application
- Assist with development of IT strategy for strategic business applications
- Create and implement a knowledge management portal
- Assist with capacity planning for new Data Center build

- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Management & Information Systems, Industrial & Operations Engineering, and related areas
- A strong understanding of and/or course work in one or more of the following: Java/J2EE, .Net, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Web services, XML, messaging, relational database management systems, business intelligence, and business process management
