1974

The year the Management Information Systems (MIS) department was established in partnership with Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) — the first-ever IS curriculum offered in the world.

Our advantages

The MIS department at The University of Arizona, Eller College of Business has been Shaping the Future of IT since it’s inception in 1974.

Our experience and longevity in combination with rigorous academic theory and real-world practice through engagement with the business community has resulted in over $80 million in research grants and other state and industry support. To date, we have educated over

  • 3,700 undergraduate,
  • 1,500 graduate and
  • 175 doctoral students.

Faculty

The MIS department’s distinction is rooted in the strength, leadership and experience of its faculty members with their most valued asset being intellectual capital.

Our faculty’s accomplishments have been recognized in leading academic and business journals, publications and electronic media. In addition our faculty understands the importance of contributing back to the field of information systems and they are actively involved with various conferences and symposiums throughout the world.

Since the department's inception, they have brought fresh perspectives and innovative teaching techniques to the classroom.
